SPACE : Philosophy 4 Children

It was great to be part of the team with P4C scholars, philosophers working in education, artists, practitioners, teachers, Baboró Delegates, and the public for two days of hands-on workshops, practice showcases, keynote talks, and a public talk before celebrating the opening of one of Europe’s leading children’s arts festivals on the 8th and 9th of Oct.
The event also marked the launch of SPACE (Sharing Philosophy and Art for Children’s Engagement), a new ENLIGHT+ community of practice growing out of this work; so alongside the workshop itself, I had the chance to connect with a wider international network continuing this conversation beyond the two days. Looking forward to collaborating further with some of the professionals.
I will bring some of the SPACE P4C methodologies into by creative environmental youth Art practices within my Creative Schools, BLAST, Creative Clusters and 'I am Creative' Programmes. (Creative Ireland and The Arts Council fund these.)
My piece Mo Laoch inspired some interesting discussions, especially the puppets the youth participants made using their collected Autumnal organic materials and matter.
